Newbies Help Newsletter  -   Dated 04 December 2007  ♦  Issue # 744
The theme of today's newsletter is Affiliate Marketing

Hi [[firstname]],

Welcome to all the new members who joined our group during this last week.
Another very busy week. The product for issue in the first week of December is almost ready, maybe two or three more days.

During the past week I have received a few emails on the subject of Affiliate Marketing and how to control the promotional costs involved. The article today tries to address the subject and really means to say that there should be no fear in spending money to make money as long as you are totally in control.

I hope some of you took advantage of the offer made by Camtasia that I sent you last week. I have not started looking into the Camtasia version 3, but hope to do so in the next few weeks.

A short break for this weeks first sponsor.

As you can see I am currently using the Widget Ad Generator, and it is working well for me.

This week's Article
Title - Some ideas on affiliate marketing promotion

You may well have read or been told by many Internet Marketers that Affiliate Marketing is the best way to start an Internet business. This may well be the business model for you, but there are some things that are not always explained that need to be clarified before you jump in.

What is affiliate marketing? It is a method of promoting someone else's product for which you will receive a commission for each sale of the product that is made through your affiliate link. Marketers that want to sell a product may do so through their own affiliate program, or as in many cases through very large affiliate programs that are run by an independent company. There are many of these Affiliate Programs available with probably the most famous being Clickbank.

The beauty of Affiliate Marketing is there is no need to create a product, you will be using someone else's. The other plus is that there is no need to create a sales page for the product, the owner has already done that part. All you need to do is join the affiliate program and obtain the affiliate link that you will need to promote.
This may well seem like an excellent method to start a business as you need to do very little other than promote the product. Now lets look at what promoting the product really means.

How will you promote the product? If you are just starting your business you are going to have to advertise the product, and yes, it may well cost some money to do that. Why is this such a stumbling block for many new to the business? There really should be no fear in the fact that you will have to spend some money to make money. The trick to surviving in the advertising field is to start small - test and prove your ads work - then let it grow slowly. All the time you will be in control of how much you spend and monitor how much you make.

Things that must be taken into account are :
  1. Research the keywords thoroughly.
  2. Budget your advertising before starting. Make sure to set the daily budget within your available finances.
  3. Check how long do you need to support the advert before getting paid from the affiliate program. In some cases this can be as long as 6 to 7 weeks from starting the campaign.
  4. Monitor everything on each promotion on a daily basis to start with. As the campaign settles down you will monitor it every two or three days.
  5. Track all your links so that you know how your adverts are working.
  6. Split test advert headlines or follow up lines and go with the higher results.

Obviously in Affiliate Marketing there are many methods to promote an affiliate product, some without cost. For example through Article Marketing and through forums, but these methods usually are much slower in responses than advertising in ezines or Pay Per Click (PPC) systems. But, the intention of this article is to highlight that promoting a product will initially involve expenses. The thing to remember is that most of the Super Affiliate Marketers use PPC to promote products and make a considerable amount of money doing so, but they have learned to keep total control of their advertising costs.

I hope that this week's issue was of interest to you, and maybe you found something that would be helpful in your own business. If so, I would appreciate any feedback you may have so that I can align future content to better suit your needs. Send them to newsletter@newbieshelp.com
