The theme of today's newsletter is setting your business goals

Hi [[firstname]],

Welcome to all the new members who joined our group during this last week.
The remake on the website, and in particular on the newsletter is still continuing. The article today is a brief look at setting your business goals and really is a continuation of last week's article.

1. Setting your business goals

Setting goals for your business is one of the most important tasks when you start an Internet business. The reason they are important is that achieving them marks your success up to that target date. The business plan is developed around the business goals set and everything within your plan is working effectively when the target is achieved. A certain momentum is gained in working the business plan to the first goal. When it is achieved, that momentum will continue into achieving the second goal. On the other hand, if the first goal is not achieved, the momentum tends to falter and it is extremely difficult to raise it in working towards the second goal.

Setting goals for your business is not as difficult as you may think. Setting achievable business goals does however take some time and thought.

The key to achieving the goals set in a business plan are twofold.

  1. You need to be strict with the time that you allocate to your business. In other words when you allocate 20 hrs per week to your business, then this is the basis for evaluating all your business goals. If the time you allocate is 20 hrs, will this be 2 hours per night for weekdays and 5 hrs apiece for the weekend, or will it be something different? Whatever you decide you will need to ensure that you assess your goals based upon it, and then stick with the routine through thick and thin.
  2. In order to achieve these goals you will need to create an income by what ever means you have decided. The business model you choose will determine how much profit you will make each day, week, or month. You will need to research your particular model to evaluate exactly how much profit per transaction you will make and then see how many transactions you will need to make to achieve the goals.
To elaborate on this, assume the model is affiliate marketing and the product is from Clickbank

    Product price                                    $50
    Commission                                       50%                                 $25
Pay Per Click advertising cost              $0.25 per click                    $25 for 100 clicks
Conversion rate at the sales page        2%
Number of sales                                 2 per 100 clicks
    Profit from sales                               $50 x 2 x 50% - $25              $25

If the business goal is $2500 the target is achieved after 100 transactions.
If the goal is to be achieved within 3 months, then the 100 transactions need to be completed within three months, which works out to 33 transactions per month, or 1 transaction per day. This is a very simple example and obviously working in a different business model will be more complicated and but the basis is still the same.

Remember that Income less costs is your profit. If you have a product of your own, or a resell rights type of product, there is no commission to pay and the returns can be greater.

Using this typical type of approach you will need to ask yourself if you can really consistently put the time into your business, and then can you complete the tasks necessary to sustain the number of transactions needed to achieve the goal set within the time allocated.

As long as you are realistic with your time and don't set your goals too high, as with everything else in this business, you will learn from day one and continue to learn until you finish. As mentioned at the beginning of this article, setting goals for your business is very important, but not difficult if you are sensible with your time and what you can achieve within that time.

2. Dave's Online Videos

I mentioned this wealth of information to you last week. I have had a little time to go through a lot of the videos and think that this is a tremendous resource for all Internet Marketers, not only the Newbies. If you have not had a look at this, I suggest you ge there now and see for yourself.

3.Widget Ad Generator

Again, I mentioned this to you last week and I have loaded it and started trying it out. Unlike its Adsense look alike the returns are far higher for successful clicks on these adverts. You have total control over the adverts displayed on your site. They can be for anything you want, but are best suited to affiliate adverts, or your own products. I am still in the preliminary testing stage with this product and will give you a review of my thoughts on the product as soon as I have anything to report. If you are interested take a look at:
