Newbies Help Newsletter  -   Dated 24 July 2007  ♦  Issue # 730
The theme of today's newsletter is Business Blogging

Welcome to all the new members who joined our group during this last week.
The theme of this week's issue is Blogging. This is one of the easiest and probably the cheapest way of starting an Internet based business. Although it is preferable to host your blog on your own domain, it is not essential as both Blogger and Wordpress both will host your blog free of charge. The only drawback of the free hosted blog is that you do not have full control over it, and there have been occasions when the blogs have been terminated without notice. So, if possible, you should always try to load your blog onto your own domain.

This week's contents:

  1. This week's article entitled "Business blogging - an introduction"
  2. The best book for learning about Business Blogging
  3. A proven system for making money using a blog
  4. Utilizing Web 2 to increase traffic to your blog
  5. This week's tip.

1. This week's article

In the early days of blogging a blog was generally created for personal use as in the form of a diary. However, since then it has been developed into a process for generating income - a business blog. This is essentially created to advertise the services or products of a particular web site or Internet business in order to increase online sales. It is also intended to create an online presence for an individual or a company - and to create a platform for developing trust in the individual or company, and its products.

Having created the business blog you can then monetize it as well as personalize it to your own requirements. Once created, you can make money out of the blog by syndicating it through RSS to your business web site. If you have decided that you will set up a blog for business, you will need a few tips to help you make your blog one of the more interesting ones.

  1. Your audience
You must always consider your audience and what is of interest to them. The content of your blog must entice your visitors to return because they found it interesting. Good communication is the essence of a successful business. If your visitor becomes a regular then building of trust is a mandatory requirement to ensure a continued relationship and eventual sales.
  2. Words fail - see sketch.
Even though you may consider the use of graphics or pictures in your blog superfluous to your needs, there are many visitors that will take the boring words as long as there is a picture or graphic intermingled to look at. It is not suggested that you put a host of pictures into your blog post, one would be suffice, especially if it were relevant to the subject of the post.
  3. The content needs to be relevant.
The posts made to your business blog need to be relevant to the subject of the blog. In other words the blog is set up around a subject, with keywords that are meant to draw traffic to it in that subject. The business blog needs to create a special relationship with its visitors with the aim to sell products or services. If you consistently write good quality posts to your blog the visitor will return for more and eventually will trust you enough to buy one of your recommended products or services.
  4. Keep things simple.
The art of good communication is to keep things simple. Keep the technical jargon out of the dialogue and try to keep the sentences short and to the point.
  5. Make it interactive.
If possible, make your blog interactive with the use of audio or video. There is a section in blogs for comments - don't turn this feature off as it allows for feedback of what your visitors think of your blog and to comment on the content.

If you decide that blogging is going to be one of the weapons in your business promotion armory then before starting out to set up your blog, think ahead and plan a little for what you want the blog to do for your business. Without the pre-planning your blog will not have a direction and will flounder.

2. The best book for learning about Business Blogging

As I mentioned last week, many newcomers to Internet Marketing do not realize that the lowest cost business model is in fact a blog. "Blogging to the bank" is an E-book by Rob Benwell which goes into great detail as to how to set up a blog, take all the steps to personalize it and then monetize it, then finally promote it. I purchased the book and have implemented the first stages of personalizing, and monetizing my own blog. I have not completed all the steps required so it is early days to confirm the outcome of the changes. I suggest you visit the site and see it for yourselves:

3. A proven system for making money using a blog

"Blogging for dollars" took a year in the making and is a system anyone can use to make money with free blogging technology.
The system will provide all that you will need to secure a top spot in practically any search engine - and drive swarms of targeted visitors to your website!  It comes with a 96-minute instructional DVD, and an easy-to-follow guidebook with 115 pages of detailed techniques and strategies for generating massive profits from any blog! I could go on and on, but it would be far better if you take a look for yourself:

4. Utilizing Web 2 to increase traffic to your blog

Unlike the normal or usual way where you create a blog and submit your articles to different Web 2.0 websites for driving in swarms of traffic, this system is the solution to post articles on any blog and instantly update them with all major Web 2.0 sites. This product guides you one step at a time to accomplish just that. Go take a look, as I am told the price will be going up soon.

This week's tip.

A very good source of current trends and needs in your niche market is to look in the online bookstores. There is a wealth of information about the subjects currently being searched for online.

I hope that this week's issue was of interest to you, and maybe you found something that would be helpful in your own business. If so, I would appreciate any feedback you may have so that I can align future content to better suit your needs. Send them to [mailto:newsletter@newbieshelp.com]
