This week's article.

It is a well known fact that traffic is the most essential thing to a successful internet based business. Aside from ensuring that you have a good website design, a top quality product, as well as a top quality sales letter, now it is time to generate targeted traffic to your website.

It is vital that you understand that all the sections that represent your business, such as your website design, or your sales copy, or the product itself, are all equally important to the success of your business. If any of these items are below standard and are unable to retain the visitor's attention, it doesn't matter how much traffic that you can bring to your site, your visitor will quickly disappear for other more interesting sites. Retaining your visitor's interest is of paramount importance.

You have no doubt heard the term "The money is in the list". The bigger the list the better, but, it must be a targeted list from your niche market. You must start creating this list from the commencement of your business. So, although you have not got your website created and your product ready, these tasks should be relegated to second place in the order of things behind the task of starting to build your list.
While researching your niche market you found a lot of information relating to problems or deficiencies related to it. You also found a good product, or even products that would address the problems. The research notes you made could be formulated into a short report, or email course about the things you found along with a possible solution. This is a carrot that you present in your traffic generation methods that will get leads to sign up for this free gift.

Below is a list of some of the more popular methods for generating visitors to your website:

  1. Offer a newsletter to your visitors that will provide information about the niche.
  2. Generate articles of interest within your niche market and publish them to article directories, and article announcement lists, as well as Ezine directories.
  3. Start looking at forums related to the niche. Post to these forums with your link in the signature area.
  4. Carry out a full keyword optimization of your website for the search engines.
  5. Create a Viral product that carries your name, website address as well as any relevant links to other products.
  6. Exchange or trade links with other sites, especially those with a Google page rank - the higher ranking the better.
  7. Organize advertising in a Pay Per Click service to send targeted traffic to your opt-in list sign-up page or your product.

All traffic to your website must at some point in time see your opt-in form for whatever you are offering to build your list. This is the key to success as they are targeted to your niche and are potential customers. Once on the list, provide them with good quality information mixed with a promotion here and there. Do not forget that everyone likes the free items. If you are offering these then try to ensure there is a viral effect generated by them. The process of generating traffic is a never ending one. The key to success is to maintain and grow your business which means it will need more and more traffic as the expansion takes place.

  1. Traffic generation made easy

Since we are on the subject of traffic for your website, I really think you should take a look at "Michael's Traffic Videos".  I have nearly finished going through them, but they are a very comprehensive set of video instructions dealing with the many ways to get traffic to your website.  The videos are very thorough in going through step by step, so be patient as the end result is well worth it.  Take a look here:

  2. Some insight into the actual methods of generating traffic

Are you in need of a traffic boost to your website?
Is your subscriber list too small or just not responsive to your offers?

Then take a second to look at this brand new book from Simon Hodgkinson called - " Traffic & List X ".

The stuff in here is like regular info on steroids - in fact, Simon covers *4* powerful ways to generate traffic and build lists. The thing is you may have already tried some of these tactics but this book really shows you how to use the to the MAX! There are No 'tricks' There's No 'fancy' software needed and the methods he covers mean this isn't some flash in the pan, mumbo jumbo that will stop working anytime soon... A breath of fresh air in an area often filled with rubbish - Highly recommended - go get a copy for yourself go to:

PS - this book isn't about the importance of building a list - it assumes you already know that.

  3. The key to the traffic generation system is Keywords

Traffic is generated through search terms, or what is called keywords or keyword phrases. One tool that I have used for quite a while now is called Keyword Elite. This piece of software really takes the grunt work out of keyword research and analysis. It even lets you get into your competitors' details and look at their incoming links. Brad Callen has a wealth of information on the product at the website and even videos to show you how to use it. I have come to rely heavily on Keyword Elite in the last 6 months and think it well worth the investment:

  4. This week's tip -

A "whois lookup" is a search you can do with a particular software tool on a site's URL. It gives you the name and contact information of the person or company who registered the site. You can also find out when the domain name was registered and when it's due to expire. This is useful information if you want to confirm whether an online business is legitimate or not. You can do a "whois lookup" yourself at: :http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/index.jsp

I hope that you have enjoyed the issue this week and were able to find something useful for your own business venture.
We are still a little behind schedule again this week. The main excuse is that I bought the CMS Infusion script and have been working with it to find out what it can do. I have just about got started and have mentioned in the blog that I will provide updates on what I find and how it all goes. The blog is at www.derekjones.name/newbies-help/ .
If you have any comments regarding anything in this week's issue please send them to [mailto:newsletter@newbieshelp.com].
