This week's article.
When you decide to start an Internet business one of the most important decisions that you will make is that of how much time you will spend on your business. In other words, if it is a work from home business, what times of day, and which days in the week will you allocate to work on your business. Since this is the basis for your plan of action and the schedule you develop, everything is based on this time allocation. If you feel that five hours per week is all you can devote to the business, then I would suggest you stop right here.
The reason the allocation of your time is so important is that everything you plan for your online business will depend upon it. If you say that you will allow two hours per week day, then four hours for the two weekend days, that results in eighteen hours per week. In other words a task requiring fifty four hours to complete will take you three weeks at the allocated rate of time.
Any deviations in the working times will reflect on your goals and schedule.
As can be seen above, the success of your business may well depend on how you allocate your time for working on it. More importantly your success is very dependant on actually working your allocated hours. Don't say and then plan that you can spend 25 hours per week but then only actually work 10 hours. This will result schedule delays ending in frustration in not achieving your goals and probably will end up in giving the whole project up.
All tasks can be broken down into "bite" sized chunks, whether as separate tasks or staged tasks. "Bite" sized in this instance relates to tasks that would take 2 hours or less to complete. In this format the work is now more easily completed, which in itself maintains interest and keeps the momentum of the project going.
An excellent way of planning your time is to define your allowed time per day, whether it is one hour or more. Plan your tasks in such a way as to complete them within your daily allowed time if that is possible. In other words break the tasks down into their smallest elements and fit them into your planned available time. The major benefit you will obtain from this method of operation is that you will maintain continuity in your plan, see the progress to your goals, which will maintain your interest and enthusiasm.
Don't believe all that you see and hear on the Internet. It is not a place to start an internet business for free, with very little work, and become one of the rich and famous overnight. Those times are only in a fairyland, but I am sure you will read it over and over as you surf the net. A solid foundation along with a good business plan for the business will allow it to grow in a healthy and stable fashion. Your time management is a part of that and your perseverance to achieve your dreams is a distinct possibility, but bide your time until you have the system in place to sustain it after it starts to realize its potential.

- This week's tip -
As everyone knows, there is a lot of work needed to start an Internet business and following on the theme of time management, there is another aspect that needs your attention. Maintain your focus on the job in hand and don't get diverted to something else. Work on one task at a time until complete. I can assure you from bitter experience the result of trying to do more than one thing at a timer will result in nothing getting finished.
