NEWBIES HELP NEWSLETTER - Getting Started
  Issued 15 May 2007 ARCHIVE Ref # 720

Hi,

Welcome to all our new subscribers who joined us in the last week.
Today's theme really goes back to the start.  The article is looking at the circumstances around making the decision to start an Internet business.  Why do I think that this is important?  Simply because if you are unaware of the working environment, working conditions, job requirements, then your decision to start a business is based in soft sand and not on solid ground.  In my opinion a recipe for disaster. Unfortunately, because of the lack of this initial research many newcomers fall by the wayside due to loss of interest or simply running out of steam.

This week’s content:

Title:    The difficulties met when trying to start an Internet business

Anyone who wants to start an Internet business today has a massive amount of information to plough through in order to find what they would like to do. The number of business opportunities available is vast, and tend to overwhelm the newcomer. What they need is a set of rules to guide them.

Many of the newcomers come to the Internet with misconceived ideas as to what it will take to create a business online and are blinded by the promises of huge fortunes that can be made in days, or even overnight, and with a minimal amount of work necessary to create these automatic money makers, let alone the maintenance of them.

Unfortunately the newcomer is arriving blind - has no knowledge of any of the opportunities available on the Internet - really has no thought as to what they want to do.  In their search they will use the keywords related to what they know they want - extra money or a second income, or even business opportunities.  Ninety-nine times out of a hundred they will land on a website that has no reference to what is needed to start and develop an online business and eventually will arriving at a conclusion based on pure guesswork as to which offer is the best for them.

Since so many are too hasty to start their online business, is it any wonder they fall foul of the scams and the supposed super systems of making millions overnight.  Remember, the top ranked websites on any Search Engine are supposed to provide the best content, relative to the search terms used.  They are buried with information to the point of overload, but still really have no idea which one is best for them. This is the point of decision for them - take a stab at one and hope for the best, or decide this is too much for them and quit.  In other words the decision is made without all the information available.

The one key piece of information that would help is something that informs what working an Internet based business requires:

  - What it takes in terms of time and effort.
  - Do they have the personal characteristics to succeed in this business.
  - Have they thought about the type of business they would like to operate.
  - Some ideas on finances and where costs would be incurred.
  - Where are they going to carry out the work.
  - What types of businesses are available.

These are a few of the questions that the newcomer needs to answer for themselves before committing time and possibly money into the venture.  In other words answer the question - "Based on what you have learned here, do you want to continue and start an Internet business?"

Having made the decision to start an internet business based on a little knowledge of what to expect will definitely allow for a smooth startup for the business, with a reliable business plan and business goals.

2.         Are you new to the Internet business world?

Need to know how to get started with an Online based business with the minimum costs, then take a look at "11 days to List Profits" which is a set of videos generated by Michael Cheney where you can look over his shoulder as he goes step by step in finding a niche, finding a product, and then setting up the basis of a business to create a subscriber list and start selling the product.  The videos are very detailed and seeing it done may give inspiration for you and your business. I bought it and I know it works. I would strongly recommend that you take a look.

4.         Recommendation of the week

Last week I found this website that is offering over fifty Internet business training videos that cover absolutely everything you would need to create and promote your product and website. This is available free of charge at this time, but I really don't know how long it will remain free. Please take the time to sign up at least - you can then take your time to go through the videos at you're leisure.  I can assure you there is a lot of good information and guidance here.

Again, I thank those of you that have sent me some suggestions on what they would like to see in the newsletter.  I am steadily working through the emails and will reply to each and every one in due course. We have 2 weeks left to the new design, so send those comments in as soon as possible.
As I previously mentioned, I intend to change the general format of the newsletter and I hoped that you may have some ideas regarding what should be included each week. I am also thinking of just sending out an email with a link to the newsletter hosted on my server, or on the blog.  I would be very interested in receiving your comments. Please send all comments to [mailto:derek@newbieshelp.com].

Sincerely
Derek Jones
